THE FIRST ROW (Belgium)

Great joy in the room when Anab knits her first row flawlessly. Chantal proudly raises her arms, because she taught her. Every week in ‘House of the World’ volunteers knit, crochet and sew with foreign women and refugees. Of course only Dutch is spoken. Anab came for the first time today. She fled from Somalia 3 years ago due to terrorism. She has lost her husband and son and now lives in Belgium with her 3 other kids. Finding a good job is difficult when not speaking Dutch well. Anab also received limited education in Somalia. How unfortunate is that?
