CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN LOCAL COMMUNITY (Slovenia)

Circular economy is working: celebrating 3 years of communal material flow of beverage cartons in local community. Specially managed collection of used beverage cartons (BC) collected 8 municipalities in Slovenia from 2015–2018 enabled its recycling with innovative technology: carton component of BC is recycled to new paper hygienic products (napkins, towels, handkerchiefs, toilet paper) while aluminium foil and polyethylene from BC is recycled to dispensers for these hygienic paper products. In three years, inhabitants and municipalities preserved 2,200 m2 and lower CO2 emissions for 60 tons.
